A Unique Honor for So Blue

Καλό Μήνα και Καλή Πρωτομαγιά!

We as Greeks joyfully announce that in June 2024, Greece was elected as a non-permanent member to the United Nations Security Council for the term 2025-2026. This will mark the third time that Greece will serve in this capacity.

Today on the first day of May 2025, Greece takes on the rotating presidency as a member and for the next month will lead discussions on maritime safety as one of its six priorities. Other important themes include protection of civilians during periods of conflict and war.

We are so proud to announce that So Blue, together with Permanent Representative Ambassador Evangelos Sekeris and his amazing colleagues and staff, was given the distinct honor of providing gifts in commemoration of this momentous and historic occasion. As fellow Greeks, we are immensely proud and humbled that we have been given these  opportunities. This was and will continue to be a very proud moment for us, but most importantly for the country we love so much and her history.

It truly has been one of the greatest blessings that we at So Blue have been given because of our Greek heritage and our connection to the special place we have grown up visiting and loving since birth. It is also an honor for the artists we work with in Greece to have their work selected.

The first time we were contacted by the office of Ambassador Sekeris was very shortly after the accident we both were in and it gave us a much needed lifting of our spirits.

This opportunity brought us to New York last week to deliver the curated gifts in person. It is tradition that gifts are given to fellow ambassadors and staff during the month of the presidency. What an amazing and unique day it was being able to meet Ambassador Sekeris and everyone at the United Nations! Warmly greeted by everyone and then given a personal tour of the headquarters, we were humbled and awed by the immense hospitality and enthusiasm shown to us.

We remain forever grateful for this incredible experience and look forward to learning more about significant discussions and developments not only this month but throughout Greece’s term.
